The goal of Torrey Pines Institute's Florida educational programs is to educate the public, teachers and students regarding the importance of scientific research. We aspire to inspire future scientists, teachers and the public throughout the Research Coast.
We have a hunger of the mind which asks for knowledge of all around us, and the more we gain, the more is our desire; the more we see, the more we are capable of seeing. - Maria Mitchell
We enjoy participation in Career Days, such as the Treasure Coast Youth Summit and other organized events to help our areas’ youth discover interests in science.
While not an academic organization, we do evaluate curriculum as to its relevancy in today’s research environment.
Torrey Pines researchers and employees enjoy participating as judges in regional science fairs, this includes St. Lucie, Martin, Indian River, and Okeechobee Counties.
Teachers: A teacher internship involves hands-on research with a scientist, learning novel approaches. These internships inspire middle and high school teachers to develop resources to bring back to their classroom as well as provide them with a deeper understanding of current lab processes and procedures.
Students: Student internships provide opportunities for older students, community college, undergraduate and graduate students in the sciences and support fields to experience working in a laboratory and research institution environment.
Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies Florida offers the opportunity for students and teachers to experience hands-on research with our scientists. These experiences often solidify a student’s commitment to medical research or help them to realize another pathway in education. All internships are to further a student or teachers’ knowledge and experience.
