establishing the Torrey Pines Institute in 1988, Dr. Houghten has assembled a
world-class group of scientists who have an innate entrepreneurial sense and
who flourish in their respective research. The research includes a variety of
diseases that afflict mankind throughout the world - cancer, diabetes, AIDS and
other infectious diseases, multiple sclerosis, and heart disease, among others.
Entrepreneurial success for Torrey Pines' scientists has included diagnostic devices,
