In 2006,
Dr. Houghten and the Torrey Pines Institute embarked on the
biggest entrepreneurial endeavor - expansion into the State
of Florida. This endeavor started with a phone call from Governor
Jeb Bush and the wheels were put into motion. This endeavor
was made possible through the generous support of the State
of Florida through the Innovation Incentive Fund, the City of
Port St. Lucie, Core Communities, the Economic Development Council
of St. Lucie County, Florida Atlantic University, and St. Lucie
County. Torrey Pines Institute in Florida will be housed in
temporary labs and offices until the 104,000 square foot green-certified
building is completed at the Florida Center for Innovation in
Tradition at the end of 2008. Currently, the Institute has 20
employees researching new methods for drug discovery and pain
management. If you would like more information on our research
or ways to help fund us, please contact
us.
