Libby Handel, Ph.D. Joins Torrey Pines Institute as Director of Business Development

Libby Handel, Ph.D. has been named Director of Business Development at Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies where she will be responsible for commercializing research and technologies, creating and managing spin-off companies, and directing technology licensing activities. “We are extremely pleased to have Libby join our team,” said Richard Houghten, PhD, President of Torrey Pines Institute.

“Her broad scientific and business experience, along with her proven ability to produce results, will be essential to Torrey Pines as we commercialize our technologies.”

Handel has over 15 years of life science experience, including the Universities of Illinois and Colorado, The Brigham and Women’s Hospital and recently at Palm Beach State College where she served as Director of Biotechnology Programs and Director of the Banner Center for Life Sciences. “I am honored to serve the scientists at Torrey Pines Institute by translating their innovative research discoveries into commercial products that can impact human health.”
