Type
I
Type 1 diabetes is referred to as "juvenile diabetes".
Type I diabetes ensues when the immune system attacks
and destroys the cells in the pancreas that make insulin.
With insufficient insulin, the body can no longer regulate
the level of sugar in the bloodstream, resulting in
high blood glucose levels.

Type
II
In type II diabetes and in obesity, blood levels of
free fatty acids (FFA) are generally elevated relative
to healthy individuals. Increasing evidence indicates
that these elevated FFA levels impair the body's ability
to regulate glucose and respond to insulin.
